abstract = {This paper presents a novel cognitive diagnostic module which is incorporated in e-learning software for the tutoring of the markup language HTML. The system is responsible for detecting the learners’ cognitive bugs and delivering personalized guidance. The novelty of this approach is that it is based on the Repair theory that incorporates additional features, such as student negligence and test completion times, in its diagnostic mechanism; also, it employs a recommender module that suggests students optimal learning paths based on their misconceptions using descriptive test feedback and adaptability of learning content. Considering the Repair theory, the diagnostic mechanism uses a library of error correction rules to explain the cause of errors observed by the student during the assessment. This library covers common errors, creating a hypothesis space in that way. Therefore, the test items are expanded, so that they belong to the hypothesis space. Both the system and the cognitive diagnostic tool were evaluated with promising results, showing that they offer a personalized experience to learners.},

Την βασική ερευνητική ομάδα πλαισιώνουν επίσης ερευνητές, κάτοχοι διδακτορικού διπλώματος των οποίων το γνωστικό αντικείμενο ή η ειδικότητά έχει άμεση συνάφεια με τα γνωστικά αντικείμενα του εργαστηρίου. Στο προσωπικό του εργαστηρίου εντάσσονται και υποψήφιοι διδάκτορες όπως και προπτυχιακοί ή μεταπτυχιακοί φοιτητές που εκπονούν την διδακτορική τους διατριβή ή τη διπλωματική τους εργασία αντίστοιχα στο εργαστήριο , και κάνουν χρήση του εξοπλισμού του. Στο πλαίσιο των ερευνητικών συνεργασιών του εργαστηρίου με άλλα αντίστοιχα εργαστήρια, ως συνεργαζόμενοι ερευνητές συμπεριλαμβάνονται και μέλη ΕΠ ή ΔΕΠ άλλων ΑΕΙ ή Ερευνητικών Κέντρων του εσωτερικού ή του εξωτερικού καθώς και ομότιμοι καθηγητές του Πανεπιστημίου Δυτικής Αττικής.
Το εργαστήριο διευθύνεται από τον Διευθυντή του, που είναι Καθηγητής της οικείας Σχολής στην οποία ανήκει το Εργαστήριο, κατά προτεραιότητα από τις βαθμίδες Καθηγητή ή Αναπληρωτή Καθηγητή και είναι μέλος της βασικής ερευνητικής ομάδας του εργαστηρίου. Ο Διευθυντής Εργαστηρίου εκλέγεται, από την ολομέλεια των μελών της βασικής ερευνητικής ομάδας του εργαστηρίου και η εκλογή του, μετά από σύμφωνη γνώμη της Διεύθυνσης της Σχολής επικυρώνεται από τη Συνέλευση του Πανεπιστημίου Δυτικής Αττικής. Η θητεία του διευθυντή είναι τριετής και μπορεί να ανανεωθεί για μια μόνο θητεία σύμφωνα με τις ανωτέρω προβλεπόμενες διαδικασίες.
